Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have had nothing but positive experiences here. My kids are genuinely excited to go to the dentist. They run things like a well oiled machine, very time effective while also taking time to talk with you and make sure you’re aware of everything they are doing. Everything is very clean and they have some really advanced equipment. All of the staff and doctors are lovely. They also have great reminder notifications that allow busy families like mine to stay on top of their schedule.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We moved to Grimsby recently and are new patients. I couldn't be happier with the care I've received for a routine cleaning along with some unexpected cavities. Dr. David and all the staff were thorough, kind and did a great job. Pricing is good too. Thanks so much to everyone!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dentistry at Waterview has been amazing clinic for my family and for myself. I have severe dental anxiety and past trauma from a dental clinic. I recently had to have some dental work done and my anxiety about it was hard for me, they offered me 2 options, gas or and oral sedation and explained both options. Even with that I was still very hesitant. Thanks to their understanding and compassion they were able to do my dental work and put my mind at ease. Without their compassion and understanding of my anxieties I would have continued to not go. I would hands down recommend Dentistry at Waterview to anyone.
Every staff member deserves stars for their professionalism.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the minute you walk in the door you are greeted by a wonderful receptionist Bianca. Dr. David extracted 2 broken teeth and he and his Dental Technician were amassing and explained every thing they were going to do and talked to you while doing the procedure. Not only did they just removed 2 teeth but explained clearly what they were doing and what would be the best procedure to replace them. Amazing experience with a super well equipped office with nothing but phenominal personnel. Thank you Dentistry at Waterview.

Sleep Apnea Appliances in Grimsby

Restful, healthy sleep starts with better airway support at Dentistry at Waterview

Quality sleep affects everything. Your energy, mood, focus, heart health and even your immune system all rely on your ability to breathe comfortably through the night. When sleep apnea disrupts that breathing, the effects can spread into every part of your daily life. At Dentistry at Waterview, we offer custom sleep apnea appliances for patients in Grimsby, Beamsville, Stoney Creek, Smithville, Winona and across the Niagara region, providing a comfortable, non invasive option for treating snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.

Our goal is simple: help you breathe better, sleep deeper and wake up feeling like yourself again.

What is obstructive sleep apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) occurs when the airway becomes partially or fully blocked during sleep. This interruption in airflow causes repeated pauses in breathing, often followed by snoring, gasping or restless tossing and turning.

Common signs include

loud snoring
gasping or choking during sleep
daytime fatigue or irritability
morning headaches
trouble concentrating
waking with a dry mouth
restless sleep
mood changes
difficulty staying asleep

Sleep apnea can affect adults and children, and many people are unaware they have it until a partner notices symptoms.

Why oral appliances are an effective solution

A custom sleep apnea appliance gently positions your lower jaw forward to maintain an open airway throughout the night. This prevents airway collapse and allows smoother airflow to the lungs.

Patients choose oral appliances because they are

quiet
comfortable and easy to wear
ideal for mild to moderate sleep apnea
effective for reducing snoring
great for people who cannot tolerate CPAP machines
compact and perfect for travel

Many patients appreciate that appliances offer freedom and comfort without hoses, straps or machines.

Sleep apnea appliances vs. CPAP

CPAP machines deliver continuous air pressure through a mask to keep your airway open. While CPAP is effective, many people struggle to tolerate it long term.

Oral appliance advantages

easier to wear
quiet and discreet
more comfortable for side sleepers
portable for travel
no electricity or distilled water needed
better compliance for many patients

When CPAP is recommended

More severe cases of sleep apnea may require CPAP or a combined treatment. If needed, we work closely with your physician or sleep specialist to coordinate care.

Our sleep apnea appliance process at Dentistry at Waterview

We take a clear, supportive approach so you know what to expect every step of the way.

1. Sleep evaluation and consultation

We start by reviewing your symptoms, health history and sleep concerns. If you have already completed a sleep study, we will review your results together. If not, we can guide you through how to obtain one through your physician or a local sleep clinic.

2. Digital impressions and airway assessment

Using modern scanning technology, we take comfortable digital impressions of your teeth and evaluate your jaw position and airway structure. This helps us determine the most effective type of appliance for your unique needs.

3. Custom appliance fabrication

Your appliance is created specifically for your mouth to ensure optimal comfort and support. High quality materials and precise craftsmanship make the appliance durable, easy to use and gentle on your teeth and gums.

4. Fitting and adjustment

Once your appliance arrives, we ensure a perfect fit and make any adjustments needed for comfort. Small refinements at this stage help you breathe fully and naturally throughout the night.

5. Follow up and long term care

We schedule follow up visits to monitor improvement in your sleep, comfort and breathing. For best results, we may also recommend complementary therapies such as myofunctional exercises or airway support treatments.

Who is a good candidate for a sleep apnea appliance

Sleep apnea appliances are effective for

mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
snoring without diagnosed sleep apnea
patients who cannot tolerate CPAP
patients seeking a portable travel solution
those with jaw positioning concerns
patients experiencing sleep disturbance due to mouth breathing

Children with mouth breathing or sleep disturbances may also benefit, though pediatric treatment plans differ from adults.

The connection between airway health and dental care

As dentists, we are uniquely positioned to evaluate airway structure, tongue posture, jaw alignment and oral development. These factors all influence how easily someone can breathe during sleep.

Sleep apnea is often linked to

low tongue posture
narrow arches
mouth breathing
TMJ concerns
clenching and grinding
chronic fatigue
orthodontic relapse

At Dentistry at Waterview, we consider the whole picture so we can recommend treatment that supports both oral and airway health..

Benefits of treating sleep apnea

Improving airflow at night can lead to meaningful improvements in daily life, including

deeper, more restful sleep
more energy during the day
reduced snoring
improved concentration and memory
better mood and emotional regulation
decreased headaches and jaw tension
reduced risk of long term health issues such as high blood pressure

Many patients tell us that even after one night, they feel the difference.
