Infections in the root of a tooth can happen when cavities are left unchecked and bacteria enters in the cracks of a tooth and moves deeper into the root. When the root of a tooth becomes infected, it is necessary to remove that infection from the “canal” or root. This procedure can help save a tooth, rather than having it extracted.
What Happens at an Appointment
At your root canal appointment, a local anesthetic will be administered to numb the affected area. If extra assistance is needed, we are fully certified in nitrous and IV sedation to help you feel at ease.
With our gentle approach to dentistry, a tiny hole will be made in the tooth and a small device will clean out the infection. The hole will be bonded and a crown may be used to cap the tooth. This takes place in one or two appointments.
