General Preventive and Restorative Dentistry

First Visit

Your first appointment is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will collect all relevant medical history to ensure your safety for dental treatment. This is also the time when we can address any immediate concerns with your oral health. This is followed by a comprehensive exam by the dentist that will provide us with a thorough understanding of the current state of your oral health.

Children need a short appointment to help familiarize them with our office. Our main goal is to provide a pleasant experience and have your children love coming to the dentist. We will also address any concerns and provide you with a complete overview of your child’s oral health.

Regular check-ups are key to maintaining a healthy smile, this way we focus on prevention rather than treatment. We are able to catch any issues that arise early and start treatment right away, which in turn reduces treatment complexity and brings down the cost. If you start feeling any symptoms such as sensitivity and/or pain do not hesitate to contact us, early treatment is key to preventing further complications. Should you need any treatment, here are some of the

Oral Hygiene and cleaning

Here at Dentistry at Waterview we love doing cleanings for our patients, we love it so much we’ve became really good at it! Just like everything else that we do, we deliver high level of care during your hygiene appointment and check up! As a bonus we provide you with the knowledge on how to properly brush, floss, and take good care of your teeth when you’re home, we give you tips on which toothbrushes are most effective and which foods to limit to maintain health with your teeth.

Tooth Coloured Fillings

Here At Dentistry at Waterview, our commitment is to provide you with the best composite resin material (white or tooth coloured fillings) which are safe for both our patients and staff. We promote a mercury-free environment by using composite resin fillings to repair any damage caused by cavities.

These can also be used for:

  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Filling a gap between teeth

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal procedure is needed when damage occurs to the nerve tissue inside of the tooth laying inside of the “canal”. This tissue is needed when the tooth is developing, once that is completed the tooth can survive without it. No one ever wants a root canal treatment, however, this type of treatment is often the only alternative to having the tooth removed. Not to worry, here at Dentistry at Waterview we believe strongly in practising gentle dentistry if needed we are fully certified in Nitrous and IV sedation to provide the treatment in a comfortable and efficient manner.

What happens after the root canal treatment?
If we determine that you need root canal treatment to save your tooth we will clean the inside of the tooth and seal it. Then we will advise you on the future treatments needed to save and protect the treated tooth.

Here at Dentistry at Waterview we strive to be as conservative as possible, it is the right way of doing dentistry. Sometimes fillings can be too large to withstand the forces of chewing or they are unable to cover discoloration in teeth. A crown is needed to maintain the tooth integrity to prevent further damage and cover up the discoloured tooth. Our crown have no metal in them, they are made from Porcelain or Zirconia to emulate the original shape, shade and function of the tooth and give you the confident smile you deserve!

Dental Veneers

Are you looking for that perfect white smile? Look no further than Porcelain Veneers.

Veneers will cover and perfect any teeth past their prime. They are long-lasting and will prevent any further damage caused by staining agents such as red wine, coffee, and smoking.

They are also used for:

  • Repairing a chipped tooth
  • Covering discoloured teeth
  • Reshaping disproportionate teeth
  • Hiding excessive gums
  • Repairing tooth degeneration caused by age

One of the three ways to replace missing teeth is dentures, they are removable structures that can be made to fit into your mouth in a way to emulate or improve the appearances of your original teeth. Here at Dentistry at Waterview, we make dentures that are indistinguishable from natural teeth. We use that latest techniques to hide or replace metal clasps with colourless ones, and even tint the gums to match your own gum colour and of course, give the right shape and shade for your teeth. This will take a few visits to make sure that we replace your missing teeth with drop-dead gorgeous dentures that will give you the confidence you deserve to smile again!

Night Guards and Mouth Guards

What are Night Guards?

If you clench and/or grind your teeth or experience some tightening of the jaws and neck muscles or even headaches in the mornings, then, you may benefit from a night guard. They are custom made plates to reduce the stress on teeth and relieve the muscles of chewing while you sleep. We design night guards to serve two main purposes, one to protect natural and restored teeth from wearing or breaking down and two as habit breaking or training appliances. The damaging habits that need to be broken up, in some cases are known as bruxism. In the long run this can damage your teeth and more importantly cause strain and damage to your Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) causing a condition known as TMD. Call us to find out more about night guads at Dentistry at Waterview.

What are Mouth Guards or Sports Guards?

Mouth Guards also known as sports guards are appliances that are worn when playing contact sports. They help protect teeth, tongue, jaws and the temporomandibular joint at the instant of an impact. They have also been known to reduce concussions by absorbing the impact of an unexpected hit and increase performance by reducing the levels of cortisol secreted by the body when competing in sports. Sure there are the boil and chew mouth guards and they work to some extent, but the night guards that we design and create for you here at Dentistry at Waterview are custom made for you, so they fit you perfectly and provide you with all the protection needed when participating in contact sports.
